Barry Lynn Boren, 69, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Beacon Heights Community of Christ Church; 19402 E. Holke Rd., Independence, MO. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of America Boy Scouts or the American Heart Association.
Barry was born June 25, 1942 in Belleville, IL the son of John H. and Dorothy A. (Long) Boren. He attended UCM in Warrensburg and Graceland University. Barry was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Missouri Highway Dept. until 1979 and retired from Amoco Oil Company in 1999 as a Petroleum Chemist. Barry was a member of the Beacon Heights Community of Christ where he served as Priest. He was also a member of the Ft. Osage Muzzle Loading Club and a 24 year member of the Boy Scouts of American and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Barry was given the name of “Warrior Whiskered Owl”. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting stamps, cooking and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Barry was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife Mary Anne Boren of 48 years; son, David L. Boren and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Kevin, Rebecca and Abby; brothers, Robert Boren and John Boren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
