Dorothy L. Boten-Cooper, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2011 while residing at Shangri-la Rehab Care Center in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Sat., Feb. 5, 2011 at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner MO 64016; interment at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P.O. Dorothy was born in Independence, MO on Aug. 18, 1921, the third child of Earnest and Irene Edwards. She married Lawrence R. Boten on April 28, 1942. They had five children and farmed near Lee’s Summit, MO where she was a member of the Cyclone Extension Club. Lawrence died June 4, 1957. Dorothy worked for Blue Ridge Crown Drug Store and Katz Drug Store in Independence, MO for many years. She married Gerald Cooper, Sept. 5, 1972 and they lived in the Edwards, MO area at the Lake of the Ozarks until his death in 1985. She then lived at Friendship Manor in Blue Springs, MO from 1985 to 2009 before residing at Shangri-la Rehab Care Center. She was a member of the Blue Springs Christian Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sister Pauline Anderton; brothers Warren Edwards, Charles Robert Edwards, Andrew Edwards and daughter Dortha L. Bemboom. She is survived by daughters Frances L. Bohachick and husband Samuel, Platte City, MO; Jenny L. Boten: Mary L. Phillips, both of Blue Springs, MO; son John R. Boten, and wife Kathy, Mission, KS; son-in-law Charles Bemboom, Independence, MO; sister Betty Boswell, KS and sister-in-law Helen Edwards, Burke, CA. She will be greatly missed by her ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
