James H. Boyd, 78, Independence, MO passed away Aug. 31, 2009. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 pm, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne, KS. Visitation will begin at 9 am before the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Heartland Hospice.
Jim was born Feb. 3, 1931 in Eudora, KS. He worked at General Foods for twenty-five years, retiring in 1984 as operations manager. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Jim enjoyed playing pool, fantasy football and traveled around the world.
Jim is survived by son Steve Boyd and wife Maria; granddaughter Whitney Boyd, all of Independence, MO; and brother Jack Boyd and wife Betty, Overland Park KS.
