Blanche M. “Jackie” Brackett, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Cremation. Interment in Mound Grove Cemetery. Jackie was born June 2, 1923 in Oil Hill, KS (now known as El Dorado, KS) to Ray L. and Mary E. (Cullison) Brackett. She spend her early years in Oil Hill and Wichita, graduating from Wichita High School North and went on to attend the University of Kansas. While at KU she worked in the print shop and acquired her interest in printing. During WWII she worked at an airplane factory in Wichita. In 1947, she moved to Kansas City, MO where she worked for Beal’s Printing and Binding for 20 years. In 1968, she started working in the printing department for Mid-Continent Library retiring from Mid-Continent in 1988. Jackie loved animals especially dogs. She also enjoyed watching old classic movies, football, going to auctions and traveling. Jackie was a member of Eastern Star, and Brick United Methodist Church in West Union, IL. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
