Irene Bradley Mossom

May 6, 1923 — April 29, 2013

Irene Mossom, 89, of Oak Grove, passed away Monday, April 29th 2013. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2nd 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street, Independence. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday May 3, 2013 at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Irene was born in Mt. Scott, OK as one of five children to Donnie Walter and Iola E. (Eakin) Bridges. As a child of the depression she was raised to know that family was most important. Irene married her first husband and had five children. She married her second husband Lewis Bradley whom she lost. Afterwards, she remarried to Wayne Mossom and he too has passed. Irene worked for many years at Thriftway and Curt’s Meat Market. She especially enjoyed dancing with friends like, Josephine Lawson and cooking candy with friends like Louise Tracy. Above all she adored her grandchildren. Irene is loved and will be missed.
She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Metzdorf of Independence, MO; Beth Nicholls and husband Rick of Bates City, MO; son, Richard Lane of Portland, OR; siblings, Delores Fletcher of Walters, OK; and Don Bridges of Tulsa, OK; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her husbands, beloved daughter, Kathryn Baker; sister, Allene Jones and brother, Alva Bridges.
