Terry Robert Brand, age 61, of Kingsville, MO, formerly of Independence, MO, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at "his place” surrounded by family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, from 5-7pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street, Independence, MO. Cremation. Terry was born on the Fourth of July in 1954 in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Honna "Pat" Lou (Gowler) Brand and Clarence "Gene" Eugene Brand. He grew up in Independence, MO, and graduated from Truman High School in 1972. He lettered in baseball for the Truman Patriots and spent memorable summers playing baseball for Bell Pest Control in the Casey Stengl League. He worked at the Lipton Tea Plant in Independence before taking a job with Univar USA, Inc. at their Kansas City operation in 1991. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union 41. He took an early retirement in September, 2014. His terminal cancer treatments had become his new full-time job and he showed up for work every day for nineteen months. Terry loved being out-of-doors and he looked forward to deer hunting season and fishing. He was a loving, thoughtful and loyal son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his dad, Gene Brand, in 2001. He leaves behind his mom, Pat Brand, of Blue Springs, his sister, Ellen Brand of Lee's Summit and her husband, Darwin W. Rold and Amy Russell's family of Signal Mountain,TN, Ben Rold's family of Greenwood, and Cristin Nicholson's family of Lee's Summit, and his brother, Eric Brand of Blue Springs, and nieces Erika Brand and Anna Brand. Immeasurable gratitude is expressed to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The University of Kansas Cancer Center in Lee's Summit and the Warrensburg Crossroads Hospice Team.
