Henry L. Brant, Jr., 84, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2007 at The Forum in Overland Park, KS. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. Cremation with private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society. Henry was born July 27, 1923 in Quincy, IL to Henry L. and Mary Louise (Meech) Brant, Sr. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an Armorer for the 505th Ordinance Tank Maintenance Co. He entered the service in October 1942 and was discharged in November 1945. Mr. Brant participated in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded one Silver Battle Star. He was a member of the Mayflower Society. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Brant worked in real estate with Conoco, Block and Co., and was a Regional Manager with Winchell’s Donuts. Mr. Brant loved his family dearly and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by his daughter Amy French and husband Russell, son William Brant and wife Tara; grandchildren Rachel Anne French, William H. and Henderson T. Brant; niece Barbara Katz; nephew Robert Dudley. Henry was preceded in death by his wife Sallee in 2005; brother Chauncy Brant and sister Mayo Dudley.
