Melvin Bredehoft, 94, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 4900 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Concordia, MO.
Mr. Bredehoft was born September 26, 1915 in Emma, MO the son of William C. and Hilda (Schelp) Bredehoft. He owned and operated Bredehoft Grocery Store in Blue Springs, before working for Bendix as a machinist until retirement. Melvin was a Charter Member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the school board. He later joined St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on numerous committees. Melvin enjoyed traveling, photography and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Anna (Brandt) Bredehoft on August 23, 2008, and his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Setley and husband Tom; son, Roger Bredehoft and wife Elaine; four grandchildren; Monica Yokeley and husband Terry; Susan Olmer and husband Andy; Anne Hoffman and husband Scott; and Michael Bredehoft; great grandchildren, Matthew, Kalynn, and Tylor; great great grandchildren, Nicholas and Madelyn; brother, Herbert Bredehoft and sister, OLinda Meyer.
