Jess Brents

Jess Louis Brents, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Jess was born August 16, 1922 in Independence, MO to Jess L. and Anna Z. (Levens) Brents, Sr. He was graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1943. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired out of the service as a Captain. Mr. Brents was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance in Independence, MO for 37 years before his retirement. He was past president of the Independence Evening Sertoma, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and a Mason. Jess is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Norma (Allen) Brents; children Juanita Louise Brents and husband Robert, Charles Alan Brents and wife Fawn; grandchildren Jennifer Lin Dove and husband William, Johnathan L. Brents and wife Melissa, Rebecca Brents; eight great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66202.
