Brett James Lewis, age 57, passed away on April 20, 2026. He was born on July 15, 1968, in Independence, Missouri.
Brett lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. He was a highly talented craftsman, known for his exceptional skill and his true perfectionist's eye for detail. Whatever Brett worked on, he poured his heart into, taking great pride in doing things the right way and doing them well. His work, like his life, reflected care, patience, and dedication.
Above all else, Brett cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 31 years, Laura Lewis; his daughter, Ashley Lewis; and his son, Brett Lewis, Jr., all of Liberty, Missouri. He was a devoted husband and a proud father, always placing his family first and offering unwavering love and support.
Brett is also survived by his parents, Barbara (John) Ingolia and Gary (Vickie) Lewis; his siblings, Monica (Steve) Stampfel, Alli (Curt) McKinney, Nicole (Brendon) Hale, Ashley Ingolia, Drew (Kellee) Jamison, and Gail Richardson; his nieces and nephews, Cameron and Dalton Stampfel, Payton and Leigha Hale, Connor and Stella Jamison, Brenna (Zach) Dean, Jason Davis, Jessica (Jeff) Council, Nicol (Cory) Jones; his uncle, Mel Dunkerly; and his mother and father-in-law, Dale and Jessica Orr, Sister-in-law, Melissa (Casey) Brown. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He is preceded in death by his nephew Alec Brown & Chris Cray.
Brett will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and the quiet but lasting way he impacted the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and unforgettable memories with family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
