John Brittain

John M. Brittain, 76, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009. A visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM Thursday, March 12 with services beginning at 11:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence; burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
John was born June 18, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to John R. and Cleon (Eaton) Brittain. He worked for Sheffield Steel as a journeyman for 43 years before his retirement in 1994. John was a member of the East Gate, Scottish Rite, and Ararat Shrine and was a faithful member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting and trap shooting.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra (Davis) Brittain in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Janice Leaming of the home; daughters and their spouses: Diana and David, Joyce and Mike, and Johnna and Randy; brother-in-law Danny Jipsen and wife Judy; step-son Charles Leaming II; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
