Mildred Brooks

Mildred Fay Brooks, 97 of Grain Valley, MO passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Shangri-La Rehab and Living Center. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel 300 Adams St., Buckner, MO 64016. Burial will follow in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Mildred was born June 11, 1914 in Douglas, AZ to Perry O’Dell and Eliza Ellen (Stocks) Puckett. She was a secretary and receptionist for 25 years at Herald House Publishing until she retired in 1979. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and kept a daily journal of her life for over 70 years. She was a long time member of the RLDS church. She was married to Walter B. Brooks until his death in 1972. Survivors include; a son, Dr. Ronald W. Brooks of Grain Valley, MO; a brother, Harold O’Dell Puckett of San Antonio, TX; 2 granddaughters, Cindy Knapp of Buckner, MO and Debbie Walker of Blue Springs, MO; 5 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Shangri-La Rehab and Living Center for their loving care of Mildred in her final days.
