Gaylen Jo Brown, 58, Of Independence, MO died April 5, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be 7:00 pm, Monday April 9, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to service beginning at 6:00 pm. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw, MO. Contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Gaylen Jo was born October 18, 1948 in Kansas City, MO to Kenneth and Carolyn Howell. On May 12, 1984, in Independence she was married to John Brown, he survives of the home. Gaylen Jo was a licensed funeral director and later a manager for the Floral Department at HyVee in Leawood, KS. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother, Carolyn, aunt Arlice Flannery of Grain Valley children Deana Schlesselman, and husband Dave of Mora, Marjorie Brady, and Robert Brady both of Cole Camp; six grandchildren, Brittnee, Justin, Desiree, Audrey, Cole, and Frankie, and sister Coretha Barlow, of Indep. She was predeceased by her father Kenneth, and a brother Stephen Howell.
