June Brown, 82, of Independence, MO passed away, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145. June was born June 1, 1925 in Brumley, MO to Mart and Malinda Ann (Sons) Brown. He had worked as a farmer before working as a drill operator for the Care Free Quarry retiring in 1989. He was an avid gardener. June was a member of the Heavy Constructors Labor Union local # 663 in Kansas City, MO since 1964 and was a member of the Lime and Gypsum Union for 10 years. He was married to Lois N. Smith on May 29, 1948 in Greenfield, MO, and had lived in Stoutland, MO before moving to Independence in 1954. Survivors include; his wife Lois of the home; 4 sons, Johnnie Ray Brown and wife Margaret, Donald Wayne Brown and wife Lori Beth and Melvin Dale Brown and his wife Debbie all of Independence and Kevin Mart Brown and wife Tina of Raytown, MO; a daughter, Cathy Ann Carmichael and husband Charles of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Nancy M. Lancaster of Southwest City, MO and Ap Dwyer of Sunrise Beach, MO; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
