Marion Lee Brown, 82, Independence, MO passed away May 12, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm, Friday, June 5, 2009 at the South Crysler Community of Christ. A private committal service was held previously at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the charity of your choice.
Marion was born Feb. 13, 1927 in Independence, MO, the son of Israel and Minnie (Braby) Brown. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and later attended Graceland College and Rockhurst College before earning a BS in Business. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He worked for Maxwell Construction for thirty years. He was a member of the church where he served as an Elder, the Rotary Club of West Independence, Friends of Missouri Town, the Laurel Club the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and the Messiah Choir. He enjoyed camping, traveling and bowling.
Marion is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Lois Brown, of the home; children David K. Brown, Oak Grove, MO; Laura Baade, St. Joseph, MO; Douglas H. Brown, Bellingham, WA; sister Wanda Barwise, Littleton, CO; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marion was a calm and gentle man who will be missed by all.
