Rowena Mabell Brown was born January 16, 1928 to Lawrence B Fonck and Louella Lackey Fonck. She passed from life April 1, 2010. Rowena was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Several years ago she moved her membership to the Restored Church of Jesus Christ. On June 7, 1948 she married Emerson Owen Brown and to this union 5 children were born: Danielle Leah, Denise Lynn, Ina Ruth, Ila Renee and Emerson Owen II. Rowena was a stay at home mom until the children were in school then she drove a school bus to be able to remain the caregiver for her family. Then she went to work for John Knox Village in the payroll department and remained there until she retired. Rowena joined the Order of the Eastern Stars Buckner Chapter #280 in 1955. She served as Worthy Matron in 1982, 1994, & 1997 with Emerson serving as the Worthy Patron.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Emerson Owen II, and her loving and devoted husband of nearly 62 years, never fully recovering from his death on December 31, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Danielle Mallett & husband Robert of Osceola, MO; Denise Davis & husband Bud (Earl) of Buckner, MO; Ina Hess & husband John of Liberty, MO; Ila Duvall & husband Roger of Independence, MO; 11 grandchildren, & 21 great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews & friends.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Buckner Restoration Branch, 2607 N Twyman Rd., Buckner, MO; burial at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30-9:00 PM Tuesday at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO with Eastern Star services beginning at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers for her services are her grandsons, Scott Mallett, Rob Mallett, Will Shook, Eric Davis, Brett Dawn, David Duvall and Eric Duvall. Honorary Pallbearers are her granddaughters, Adina Winfrey, Amanda Daughtery, Christine Mallett and Kendra Harris.
