Hattie Brunson

Hattie Ellard Brunson, 97, of Lee’s Summit and formerly of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Hattie was born May 27, 1911 in Griggs, OK to Jefferson and Nancy (Griffith) Ellard, the youngest of nine children. She moved to Independence and spent her entire adult life in the area. She married Don C. Brunson on April 28, 1934, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Brunson worked at Montgomery Ward and retired from Lake City Ammunition plant. In her retirement, she did volunteer work for over twenty years with the Salvation Army and the Sermon Center. Hattie loved to dance and had many friends that joined her in that passion. Mrs. Brunson is survived by her son Ronald Brunson and his wife Shirley, her daughter LaNelle Brunson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice.
