Melba Morgan Buchanan, 86, passed away July 10, 2011 in Omaha, NE. Services will be at 10 am, Friday, July 15 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
Melba was born July 14, 1924 in Purcell, MO but lived most of her life in Independence. She was a member of the Independence Stake of the Mormon Church where she volunteered for many church functions. She was a proofreader for many years at Herald House Publishing Company. Her hobbies included oil painting and genealogy.
Melba was preceded in death by husbands Louis Morgan and William Buchanan. She is survived by her sister Fern Pedersen, Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews and their families.
