Thomas Bunge

Thomas A. Bunge, 46, Blue Springs, MO passed away unexpectedly May 10, 2013. Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, May 16 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Lobb Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Great Plains SPCA, 21001 MO 78, Independence, MO 64057. Thom was born July 26, 1966 in Washington, MO. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in the Class of 1985 where he played basketball and baseball before attending Baker University and Missouri Western State College. He was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church where his father recently retired as pastor. He was very involved in church work and had taught Sunday school, led youth groups, coached basketball for the Upward Bound Youth Group and coached baseball for the YMCA. He was a huge sports fan and followed the Royals, Chiefs and KU sports. He was a very caring person who was concerned with helping others. Thom is survived by his sons Thomas Anthony “T.J.” Bunge, Jr. and Zachary Ryan Bunge, both of Kansas City, MO; his parents Rev. Bill and Dee Bunge, Independence, MO: brother Bill Bunge, Jr., Springfield, MO; sister Melanie Courtney and husband John, Oak Grove, MO; nephew William III; nieces Erin and Meagan.
