Lillian G. Burgess, 84, of Independence passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at North Care Hospice House, Kansas City.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM., Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052 with interment in Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 AM., on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to North Care Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, Kansas City, MO 64116.
She was born on October 11, 1928, in Lead Hill, Arkansas, the daughter of James and Reba (Ramsey) Foresee. Lillian was united in marriage on December 2, 1950, to Vernie Burgess.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, Sugar Creek, American Legion, VFW and Knights of Pythias. She was a housewife and homemaker for many years and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Lillian enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and quilting.
She is survived by her three children, Rick Burgess and his wife Dee, Spring Branch, TX; Larry Burgess and wife Shelia, Red Oak, TX; and Linda Cargill and her husband Tommy, Independence; nine grandchildren, Danny, Eric, Gina, Ron, Phillip, Erin, Melissa, Jennifer and Rachel; twelve great-grandchildren; five siblings, Lucille, Oleta, James, Raymond and Barbara; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Doy and one great-grandchild.
