William (Bill) Burham, died August 16, 2009 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee, OK after an extended illness.
Bill was born November 15, 1951, the son of Anna Lou Smith) and Bobby D. Burham in Clarinda, IA. Bill attended schools in Clarinda, Red Oak and Stanton, IA where he graduated in 1969. Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served his country with honor on the USS Caloosihatchee in the Mediterranean waters during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1973. He was employed with the United States Postal Service in Red Oak, IA and the Bulk Handling center in Des Moines, IA. Bill enjoyed all sports and was a faithful Kansas City Royal Fan where he worked for a while selling beverages at the ball games. Later in Bill’s life he attended and graduated from Brown-Mackie College in Salina, KS as a Para Legal. On March 16, 2008, Bill married Christi Whitmyre in McAlester, OK.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Lou Burham and both sets of grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Christi Burham of McAlester, OK; father, Bobby Burham and his wife Barbara of Clarinda, IA; five sisters, Bobbie Burham, Raytown, MO; Deb Steiner and husband Pete of Holliston, MA; Shelley Anderson and husband Eric, and Amy Elwood and husband Mark of Stanton, IA; and Marcy Schooley and husband Jon of Clay Center, KS; and nieces and nephews. May God Bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO.
