Virgil Burke

Virgil Burke, 87, of Independence, MO passed away December 15, 2010. He was born June 24, 1923 in Gibson County, Indiana. Virgil had a passion for life, and lived it to the fullest. He was a people person, never meeting a stranger, and making friends everywhere. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was also a member of Ironworkers Local #10. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Burke; daughter, Connie Bell; grandson, Anthony Carroll; sister, Louise Milberger; and brother, Lavern Burke. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy (Vitt) Burke; daughter, Donna Allen; sisters, Betty Smith and Jane Crisp; 7 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. The family welcomes friends to come by the home and visit during the holiday season.
