Ruby F. Burkey, 89, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 19, 2009 at St. Mary’s Manor. Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Ravanna Cemetery in Ravanna, MO. Visitation will be 6 �" 8 pm, Wed. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the charity of your choice.
Ruby was born Dec. 8, 1919 in Mercer County, MO. She graduated from Ravanna High School as Valedictorian of her class. She has been a resident of Independence since 1953. She retired from Sears in 1982 after twenty-four years of service.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Olin Burkey, her parents, three brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughters Glenda Burkey, Independence, MO; Carolyn Holmes, Casper, WY; sister Thelma Cartmill, Lee’s Summit, MO; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
