Robert Rex "Butch" Butcher Sr.

Robert Rex “Butch” Butcher, Sr., 67, of Garden City, MO passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 18th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19th at the chapel. Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. at Lawson Cemetery, Lawson, MO the same day.
Butch was born November 15, 1947 in Kansas City, MO as the eldest of five children to Luther Rex and Peggy (Thurlo) Butcher. He attended Van Horn High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned, Butch worked for Allis Chalmers and later, Labconco as a sheet metal fabricator. He was dedicated and hardworking but also enjoyed bass fishing, car racing and was previously approached for sponsored racing. He married his beloved Cheryl (Caylor) on February 24, 1973 and together they raised three children. His family remembers him as a good provider, generous, loyal, compassionate, and soft spoken. Butch is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include wife of 42 years, Cheryl; daughter, Christina Poe (Danny) of Harrisonville, MO; son, Robert Rex Butcher, Jr. (Christine) of Fredricksburg, VA; daughter, Melody Daniel (Richard Garrett) of Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren, Bridgette, Bobby, Jessica, Skylar, Gabriel, Olivia, Kaitlyn, and Ryan; and one great grandchild, Charlotte; sisters, Deborah Wilson (Larry) and Rhonda Perfater all of Independence, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Manning; and brother, Michael Butcher. The family encourages contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
