Carisa L. Rose Cairns

Carisa Rose Cairns, 47, of Independence, MO lost her life on February 27, 2023, after a lifelong struggle with depression.

She is survived by her mother, Laura Mangnall; stepfather, Tom Mangnall; husband, Brad Cairns; father-in-law Joe Cairns; her sisters, Kerri Nichols and Kelsey Mangnall; and her children Ryan, Brayden, Mason, and Elliot.

Carisa was born on August 27, 1975, in Kansas City, MO. She worked as an office assistant in the Radiology Center of Truman Medical Center, before becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. The center of Carisa’s world was her family. Carisa took pride in being a mother and homemaker. She put her creativity into making a beautiful home, creating special events for her children, and making gifts to share with others. Her favorite place in the world was her home, playing with her children, gossiping with her sisters, or snuggling with her dog Willow. When not at home she loved to spend time with her mother Laura, spending hours at flea markets or suntanning by the pool.

Carisa was warm and vibrant and full of good humor about every situation. Her laugh was contagious, and her playful nature could make ordinary days extraordinary; like spending an entire snow day building a snowslide with her kids in the backyard. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Our time with her was too short, but she will forever live on in our memories.

In Carisa’s words, “The world isn't all bad. You will make a difference. Please don't ever stop fighting.”

Please join us as we celebrate this special person’s life at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Monday, March 6, 2023. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm, followed by a memorial service at 3 pm.
