Janet Kay Calvert, 55 of Independence passed away, Sun. Aug. 24, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center with her family by her side. Services will be 10:00 am, Fri. Aug. 29, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep. MO. Burial in Lobb Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 �" 8:30 pm, Thursday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2415 R. D. Mize Rd. Indep. MO 64057. Ms. Calvert was born on Oct 28, 1952 to Robert and Pauline (Boone) Calvert in Independence, MO and was a lifelong area resident. She had previously been a Teacher with the Independence and Oak Grove School Districts, a Human Resource Manager for Humana Health Systems, and employed with the Johnson County Mental Health Center, the Blue Springs Examiner and the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church, and most recently had been an office assistance with Farmers Financial Services in Lee’s Summit, MO. She also had been a volunteer with the Independence Three Trails Center and the Kansas City Symphony. Janet was a very loving and caring person, who enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a charter member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she had been the organist for many years. She had served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Leader and Youth Leader. She was a member of the Pastor Parish Committee, the Worship Committee, the Church Choir and was secretary of the Administrative Board. Janet was preceded in death by her mother in 2006. She is survived by her father, Robert “Bob” Calvert of Independence. A sister, Betty Crews of Tigard, OR. Two nephews, Matthew Crews and Jordan Crews, a niece Rachel Crews and by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friend
