The family of Marijoe Cameron sadly announces that Marijoe lost her battle with cancer on September 20, 2011. She handled her sudden diagnosis and subsequent treatment with a quiet grace and brave dignity, passing away peacefully at her home in Lee's Summit.
Marijoe was born November 11, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Lloyd & Esther Cameron. She grew up in Brunswick and Lexington. After living in Lee's Summit, she relocated to Denver until 1991 when she returned to the KC area.
She leaves behind a family which she took great pride, including her sister, Judy Cameron and her partner, Jan Grubish of Henderson, Nevada; her 4 children and their families as follows: Sons, John David (Jo), Newton, Iowa, James Curtis, Paola, Kansas, Joel T. (Kay), Littleton Colorado and a daughter, Brenda (Ed Kautz) Calgary, Canada.
Grandchildren: Riley (Scott), Katie (Steve), Jason (Jenney), Carrie (Rex), Jake, James and Jessie.
Great grandchildren: Cameron, Bryce and Josie.
Marijoe graduated from Lexington High School in 1953 and remained close to her classmates throughout her life. She loved to learn and proudly received her Bachelor’s degree at the age of 50 from Metro State College in Denver. Her working career included Unity School of Christianity, Legis 50 and she retired in 2007 from the Trust Dept. at UMB in Kansas City.
Her hobbies were traveling to visit her widespread family, her annual trip to the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach with Judy and Jan, her beloved Ojo Caliente Spa and opera in Santa Fe, friends in Arizona, and a trip of a lifetime to Italy. Her other loves were cooking, going to the gym, writing, reading, crossword puzzles, and watching sports, which included a new affinity for NASCAR thanks, to her friend, Ron.
She will be missed every day
