March 14, 1945 — May 9, 2022

Dorsey Edward Campbell, Jr. passed away Monday, May 9th peacefully at home. Born March 14, 1945, in Independence, Missouri. Ed was at peace knowing he was going to his home in Heaven.

Known as Ed to friends and family, EZ Eddie and Captain EZ to others. Ed graduated from Van Horn High School in 1963 where his love for woodworking began. Ed's journey through life was filled with adventure and love for his family and friends. He purchased, restored, and chartered the schooner (MANU’IWA) in the Hawaiian Islands. Captain EZ, Ed, sailed the waters of Hawaii for more than a decade before returning home to Independence to care for his dad. He began racing hydroplanes and was Rookie of The Year in 1984 and won a World Championship that same year. He raised and traded Belgium Horses on his farm outside of Independence. Ed also raced in the local Soap Box Derby with his grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandria, Alesia and Max. They drove and he built, maintained, and set up their cars for each race. He cherished doing this with them because of all the quality time they got to spend together.
