Adela A. Cantos, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at John Knox Village. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Hospital. Adela was born May 2, 1931 in Chone, Ecuador to Julio Cantos and Sergia Barberan Cantos. She had worked for several years as a seamstress until she retired. She enjoyed working in her garden and sewing. She was a member of Souls Harbour Assembly of God Church. She is survived by 5 children; Zoila Bower and husband Jerry of Blue Springs, MO, Elizabeth and Frank Spencer and Edwin Borja and wife Elvira all of Independence, MO, Alfonso Borja and wife Jima of Lee’s Summit, MO and Louie Borja of Dallas, TX; 2 brothers, Julio Cantos and Luis Cantos of Ecuador; 4 sisters, Alva Cabrera of Virginia, Juana Cantos of Spain, Maria Cantos of Portland. OR and Josephine Cantos of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
