Carol A. O'Shaughnessy, born on December 25, 1950, in Mendon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in Polo, Missouri. She graced this world with her presence for 75 remarkable years.

Carol earned an Associate's degree in criminology from MCC and devoted much of her professional life to serving as security personnel for Crown Center. Her career reflected her commitment to safety and vigilance, qualities that paralleled her love of true crime television genres such as NCIS and Law and Order. A woman who adored her family above all, Carol was known for the love and care she poured into every gathering. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lovingly organizing fun games and activities that brought joy and laughter to those around her. Her home was a place of warmth, where her family’s close bonds were nurtured and celebrated.

Carol’s interests extended beyond her family to her passion for genealogy, particularly her Irish heritage. Proud of her roots, she treasured the opportunity a few years ago to travel to Ireland and visit her family’s original farmstead—a journey that deepened her appreciation for her ancestry and enriched the stories she would share with loved ones. In quieter moments, Carol enjoyed watching hummingbirds, finding peace in their delicate beauty and the simple joys of nature. Her thoughtful spirit and gentle presence touched all who knew her.

Carol's passing is preceded by her mother, Virginia Rose Fisher; her father, Richard E Uhrmacher; her brother, Glen Gene Stackhouse; her nephew, Josh Stackhouse; and her great-grandson, Braydon Abrams. Her legacy of love lives on through her sons, Darrel Wood (Sondra), Marvin Forbes (Rachelle), and Mitch Forbes (Kate); her grandchildren, Amber Abrams, Ben Wood, David Wood, Mariella Forbes, Noble Forbes, and Dorothy Forbes; her great-grandchildren, Ashton Abrams, Brandon Wood, Zack Wood, Nathan Abrams, Logan Abrams, Elli Wood, and Memphis Wood; her sisters, Dena JoAnn Stackhouse and Linda Sue Brady; her nieces and nephews Amber Lucas and Chad Vanderman; and her beloved dogs, Isabelle, Hunter, and Chevelle.

Services to honor Carol’s life will be held on June 23, 2026, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM.
