Carol Ann (Miller) Zelk, 2/5/35 - Independence, MO, 12/7/25 - Independence, MO. Worked as an executive assistant for the Council of Twelve at the Community of Christ Church for 17 years in Independence, MO. Served as an officer in the Young Matrons, Independence Hospital Auxiliary, Community Service League, American Red Cross Eastern Jackson County Board, Board of Directors of her neighborhood HOA.
When her boys were younger, she volunteered with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as church youth and young adult groups. She was awarded a key to the city (Independence, MO) for community involvement. Even with all her involvement, she made it a point to always be home for dinner with her children and to attend her boys activities.
While at Graceland college and as a young adult, participated in many sporting activities including basketball and field hockey. Local girl that loved Independence, and would never move out of the city.
Preceded in death by per parents, Howard Eugene Miller and Laura Icle (Bray) Miller. Survived by her husband of 35 years, John E Zelk. Survived by her brothers, James E Miller and Robert E Miller; her sons, Randy Winship, Gregory Winship, Steve Winship; her step-sons, Brian Zelk, Brad Zelk; and 6 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to One Community Hospice in Independence, MO.
