William F. “Bill” Carpenter, 84, Independence, MO passed away Dec. 7, 2011. Services will be 2:30 pm Sat., Dec. 10, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 cremation. Visitation will begin at 1 pm, before the service at the chapel.
Bill was a born Feb. 3, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Northeast High School and joined the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific Theater in WW II. Following the war, he returned to work at Armco Steel and stayed there forty-four years until his retirement. He was a member and union steward of United Steel Workers Local #13. He served as Mayor of Independence, MO from 1990 to 1994 and was always concerned with the betterment of his community. Bill was a very social person who loved people and had many friends.
Bill is survived by his wife Patricia Carpenter, of the home; daughter Kimberlee Olah and husband Chris, Independence, MO; son Michael Carpenter, Kansas City, MO; daughter Pamela Bush and husband Jim, Blue Springs, MO; step-son Del Gaston, Jefferson City, MO; step-daughters Patrice Lackland, Independence, MO; Shirley Dean Williams and husband Ray, Lawrence, KS; brother Francis Carpenter and wife Mary Lee, Independence, MO and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
