Annalia Carson

June 22, 1941 — February 13, 2012

Annalia “Anna” Carson, 70, Independence, Mo., passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2012, after a courageous battle against multiple myeloma. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Feb. 17 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Mo. 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes gifts to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Pkwy., Ste. 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Annalia was born Annalia Kirst on June 22, 1941, in Tschernjachow, Ukraine, where Germans had settled prior to World War I. As World War II escalated, Germans were required to return to their homeland. Annalia and her family arrived in Bertoldshofen, Bavaria, in 1944, where they lived until 1952. That year, the Kirst family immigrated to the United States. Annalia and her immediate family joined their sponsor in Cole Camp, Mo., and eventually moved to Independence, Mo. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1959. She met her husband through mutual friends and they married in 1960. She worked as a bank teller and then dedicated the majority of her life to raising her two children and being a caregiver to her immediate and extended family. Her selfless devotion and kindness in caring to others was endless, as was her positive outlook on life. She bravely fought her disease for nearly five years, never losing hope. She was the brightest light and was taken too soon. She will be deeply missed.
Annalia was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Carson, of the home; daughter Tanya and her partner Gay Anderson, Kansas City, Mo.; son Kenny Carson and wife Tabetha; granddaughters Bailey, Brynley and Bradyn Carson, all of Blue Springs, Mo.; brother Willie Kirst and wife Doris, Independence, Mo.; and lifelong friends Jeannie Small and husband Ken, Blue Springs, Mo.
