Roth Cartmill, 89, of Buckner, MO passed away June 3, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Roth was born September 18, 1919 in Buckner, MO to Jan Lee Cartmill and Ollie Leona (Minter) Cartmill. He graduated from Halls Memorial High School in Buckner, MO. He worked for 20 cents an hour for Evans Orchard; 30 cents an hour as a high speed driller; as well as working as a foreman for Jackson County Parks and Recreation. He was also a life-long farmer, raising cattle, sheep, hogs and chickens. Roth was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church in Buckner, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He married Margaret Louise Markham on January 24, 1941 in Independence, MO. On August 1, 2007, after sixty-six years of marriage, Roth was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret. He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and an infant brother. Mr. Cartmill is survived by three daughters, Jane Ann Stevens and husband Lee of Hollister, MO, Bonnie Louise Martens and husband Mike of Blue Springs, MO, Ann Lee Horne and husband Robb of Buckner, MO; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Viola Kincaid of Oklahoma; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Markham, Jr. of Nixa, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, at the Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams Street, Buckner, MO. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the chapel with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery.
