Helen Casper Akeman

June 18, 1918 — March 12, 2008

Helen Lorriane Casper Akeman, 89, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the VFW Post #3600, 14468 N. State Highway 7 Climax Springs, MO 65324. Helen was born June 18, 1918 in Independence, MO to Robert and Eva (Harmon) Beattie and was a lifelong area resident. She had worked at various jobs but was primarily a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing bingo and gambling. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Climax Springs, MO and a member of the 50 & Holding Club, Democrat Club, active member and volunteer of the VFW post #3600 Climax Springs and was voted Queen of Climax Springs in 1990. She was married to Richard Casper who passed away in 1970 and later married George Akeman who passed away in 1992. Survivors include; a daughter, Eva Pontalion and husband Tom of Independence, MO; 2 grandsons, Rick Pontalion of Denver, Co and Tom Pontalion, Jr. and wife LeAnn of Independence, MO and 2 great grandchildren, Kensley Pontalion and Makenna Pontalion.
