George W. Caviness, III, 78, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 15, 2008. Services will be at 3 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Kidney Foundation.
George was born Sept. 17, 1930 in Phoenix, AZ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served in Korea before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force where he had a ten-year career. He retired from the SFO Organization in 1988. He was a member of the Community of Christ East Alton Congregation and American Legion Post #21.
George was preceded in death by his parents George W., Jr. and Cora Evelyn Caviness, son Andrew Caviness and brother Thomas O. Caviness. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Barbara Caviness, of the home; daughter Charlotte Caviness and fiancé Lonnie Miner, Independence, MO; sons Anthony Caviness, Portland, OR; Todd Caviness and fiancé Amy Davis, Independence, MO; daughters Carol Hamblen and husband Scott, Kansas City, MO; Cassandra Caviness-Glenn, Independence, MO; sister Pamela Landrum and husband Bill, Blue Springs, MO; brother Clifford David Caviness and wife Connie, Chilhowee, MO: sister Tamara Caviness, Independence, MO; grandchildren Joshua Caviness Thatcher, James Greenwood, Kyle Caviness, Celina Bordelon, Matthew Hamblen; and his special companion, his dog Buddy.
