Gladys Mae Chadwick, 97, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Carmel Hills Living Center. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 5 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Gladys was born May 6, 1911 in Independence to Elmer and Ethel (Julian) McPhail. On June 3, 1939 she married David Chadwick. He preceded her in death in 1968. Gladys enjoyed sewing, especially making Christmas tree skirts to individual specifications, and reading. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed for her strong will and feisty nature.
Gladys is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Julyan and Linda Chadwick; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, her son, George McPhail and daughter-in-law, Marlene McPhail, preceded her in death.
