John Therrel Chandler, 91 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday January 30, 2012 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. John was born April 3, 1920 in Opalika, AL to John Calvin and Audra Ethel (King) Chandler. He had worked as a plumber for Local #8 Plumber and Pipefitter's Union in Kansas City for over 30 years before he retired from Garney Plumbing and Heating. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at their lake house on Truman Lake. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Warsaw, MO. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was married to Ruth (Kimbrough) on his birthday in 1941 and have enjoyed nearly 72 years of marriage. He is survived by; his wife Ruth of the home; 2 sons, Harold Chandler of Independence, MO and Donnie Chandler of Springfield, MO; a daughter, Linda Sue Close of Blue Springs, MO; 3 sisters, Ruth Lard and Evangeline Erwin of Florence, AL and Catherine Hearn of Huntsville, AL; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
