Charity N. Champ passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the age of 51. Charity was born to Daniel and Peggy Champ on May 5, 1973 in Independence, Missouri.
Charity found joy in cooking and dedicated over 9 years of her life serving the community at MCI hospital. Her culinary skills brought comfort and nourishment to countless individuals during their time of need. In addition to her work at the hospital Charity's kind heart led her to volunteer extensively at the Missouri Pit Bull Rescue and the Midwest Bully Breed Rescue shelters. Her commitment to animal welfare showed the depth of her compassion and empathy towards all creatures.
A quirky sense of humor and an unapologetic honesty defined Charity's personality. She had a unique way of brightening any room with her presence and always spoke her mind.
Charity indulged in various hobbies that brought her immense joy. From riding ATVs and Harley motorcycles to exploring her passion for shopping, she lived life to the fullest. However, above all else, Charity treasured her family deeply. Her love for them was fierce and unwavering.
Charity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In honor of her remarkable life, a Memorial Service will be held on June 1, 2024, at 4pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, MO.
She is survived by her sons, Allen Hitch and Steven Hitch (Susan); daughter, Kim Hitch (Jacob Bruce); mother, Peggy Champ; step-mother, Delores Champ (Dennis Heater); brothers, Daniel Champ Jr, Thomas Reed and Michael Reed; and grandchildren, Guage Mallon and Malachi Thomas, Charlotte Bruce, Jeremy Hitch, McKenzie Hitch and Hayley Hitch.
Charity is preceded in death by her father Daniel Champ and her beloved husband of 6 years, Jim Cocklin Jr.
