Alberta Chesnut, 90, of Independence, MO passed away January 28, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the chapel, with burial to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church. Alberta was born April 19, 1918 in Burlington, Kansas. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1957. She retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in 1980. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chesnut, in 1972; parents, Joseph George Botham and Elizabeth Cole Botham; six sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by four children, Sally Sugg, Larry Chesnut, Terry Chesnut, Susan Ingram (Roger); one sister, Martha Martens; three grandchildren, Georgia Resch (Mike), David Chesnut (Timberly) and Kendra Ingram; two step-grandchildren, Amy Coney and Matthew Gnazzo; seven great grandchildren; cousins; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed.
