Clarence Lynn Blackburn, affectionately known as Clay, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Blue Springs, Missouri, surrounded by love. Born on December 17, 1948, in Independence, Missouri, Clarence lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Clarence’s journey began in the heart of Independence, where he graduated from Southwest High School before advancing his education at Great Lakes Naval School. He proudly served in the Navy, a chapter in his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor. Following his military service, Clarence devoted 32 years to his craft as a skilled carpenter for Union #61, building not only structures but a legacy of hard work and integrity.
Known for his gentle spirit and zest for life, Clay treasured moments spent with his beloved family. He delighted in watching Nascar, venturing out on hunting and fishing trips, and engaging with the world online. Above all, his greatest pride and joy were his family—his constant source of happiness and purpose.
Clarence is lovingly remembered by his wife Nell Blackburn and their children, Kimberly Stateler, Russell Blackburn, and Chad Nixon. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren—Ilese Stateler, Hailey Stateler, Landon Stateler, and Dalton Nixon—and his great-grandchildren, Myylan Townsend and Alexander Nixon.
