Clarence Milbert Stoll Jr.

April 9, 1925 — December 20, 2025

Clarence Milbert Stoll Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 20, 2025, in Blue Springs, Missouri. Born on April 9, 1925, in Mayview, Missouri, to Clarence and Ethel (Carl) Stoll, Clarence lived a life rich in experiences and dedication to family, service, and faith.

Clarence grew up in Willow Springs, Texas County, where he attended school in a one-room schoolhouse until the eighth grade. A hardworking individual from a young age, he helped to support his family by working alongside his father. In 1943, Clarence answered the call to serve his country during World War II, enlisting in the Army as a rifleman/paratrooper. His service not only showcased his bravery but also allowed him to contribute to his family's needs through his military pay, which included extra funds for his parachuting endeavors.

After the war, Clarence returned to Missouri in 1946, where he helped his aunt and uncle on their farm. It was here that he met Evelyn, who would become his wife for 69 1/2 cherished years. Evelyn, a school teacher renting a room from Clarence's relatives, captured his heart, and they were married in 1947 in Sedalia, Missouri.

Clarence and Evelyn initially moved to Independence, Missouri, where Evelyn worked at the Union School. As their family grew, they relocated to Climax Springs, Missouri, before returning to Independence. There, Clarence built their home, nurtured a large garden, kept bees, and raised beef cattle, pigs and dairy cows. His dedication to family and farming demonstrated his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for those he loved. He eventually retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987, where he served as a body inspector.

Even in retirement, Clarence remained active and devoted to his passions. He continued milking a cow or two raising a calf or two and gardening and beekeeping. In addition to his home-centered pursuits, he and Evelyn enjoyed traveling to Texas during the winters, creating lasting memories together as they journeyed through life.

A long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Clarence dedicated over 70 years to his faith community. He contributed his time and talents by serving on the Men's Club and playing an instrumental role in numerous maintenance and remodeling projects at the church. His commitment to his spiritual home mirrored the love and care he offered to his family and community.

Clarence is survived by his six children and their spouses. Nancy Gaines husband Tom, Carl Stoll and wife Pat, Doug Stoll and wife Jane, Rodney Stoll and wife Brenda, Brent Stoll and wife Kathy and Bryant Stoll and wife Lisa. He was a grandfather of 13 and a great grandfather of 15.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carolyn Kay Stoll, his beloved wife Evelyn (Mauss) Stoll and by his parents, Ethel (Carl) Stoll and Clarence M. Stoll, Sr. and siblings, Vernon Stoll, James A. Stoll, Martha Jo Lott and Lila F. Matzenbacher.

The family will honor his memory through visitation on December 29, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. He will then be laid to rest at Valor Park Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City or Harvesters, all organizations that were important to Clarence and his family.

As we reflect on the life of Clarence Milbert Stoll Jr., we remember a kind, hardworking man whose legacy of love, service, and dedication will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
