John Clayton, Sr.

John W. Clayton, Sr., 80, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 28, 2008. Memorial services will he held at 2:00 pm, Sat., Nov. 1, 2008 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Independence; cremation with inurnment in the columbarium at the church. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Kansas City Hospice or Trinity Episcopal Church.
John was born June 8, 1928 in Arkansas City, KS. He served in the military for twenty years, first serving in the Army and then enlisting in the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in 1966. He later worked for White Industries Aircraft Salvage in Bates City, MO. John was a giver. He was active in delivering Meals On Wheels in Independence and helping at his church by cooking meals for the homeless and helping with building maintenance. John was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for over twenty-five years and was a member of the Commemorative Air Force.
John was preceded in death by a son John W. Clayton, Jr. and a sister Elizabeth Jane Gillespie. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years Myrna Clayton, of the home; son Terry Clayton and wife Teresa, Billings, MT; brother James H. Clayton, Arkansas City, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
