Donald G. Clemens, 82, Independence, MO returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, at the funeral home.
Donald was born April 7, 1928 in Carroll County, MO the son of Roscoe and Anna (Halterman) Clemens, who preceded him in death as well as two brothers, Richard Dean and Leonard Clemens; and stepson, James Case. He leaves his loving wife Betty of the home; son Ronald Clemens of Ava,; former daughter in law Janice Clemens of Independence; and daughter in law Kay Case of Cameron; granddaughters, Debbie Ayers and her husband Bruce of Parkville; Saundra Neal of Independence; Cheryl Shepherd and her husband Terry of Independence; and Stefanie Offutt and her husband John of Independence; brothers, Eldon Clemens of Tavares, FL; Kenneth Clemens and his wife Sharon of Sunrise Beach; Curtis Clemens of Odessa and Loren Clemens and his wife Judy of Kansas City, sister Marilyn Stem of Florida; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He worked for Sheffield Steel Corporation for 30 years as an overhead crane operator. He married the love of his life, Betty Ann Brosam in 1946. They would have been married 65 years on May 12, 2011. His hobbies included horseshoe pitching, which he played with much passion and won many trophies and was 1996 World Champion in his class. He also loved to fish. His zest for life was – Live, Laugh, and Love and he did not differentiate between rich or poor, popular or whatever. He was a people person. Donald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch in Independence. The family wishes to thank Hospice Advantage for their care, comfort and compassion especially Julie Ham, RN, BSN; Amber Richards, LPN and dear Kalli Ritchel and Chaplin Tim Allison.
