Kenneth Clow

February 25, 1917 — June 29, 2008

Kenneth David Clow, 91, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 29th , 2008 following months of tender care, including hospice. Throughout the entire evening a spontaneous sharing of stories and pictures celebrated the joy of his life.
Kenneth David Clow was born Feb. 25, 1917 the youngest of five children to William John and Gertrude (Austin) Clow in Independence MO. He lived in Independence his entire life. He graduated from Wm. Chrisman high school with honors. He was a true fisherman at heart, but a sheet metal worker by trade. He worked at Independence Stove and Furnace Co. for years and also as a motion picture operator in all three theatres operating in Independence at that time. Later when drive-in theatres became the rage, he worked at the 40 Hiway location, among others. He learned a love of photography while at the Dragalla Picture Printing studios for five years, using his Bolcey "B2" to record many fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota. Ken then used his ability to fix almost anything at the Claycomo Ford Plant Maintenance dept., retiring after 13 years.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, and Arthur, and sisters Hazel Conyers and Glenna Radmall. The family who will love and remember him forever include the love of his life for 73 years of marriage, Alice Willis Clow, daughter Jacque Lane and husband Larry, granddaughters Stephanie and Melissa; son David Clow of Crawford, CO, grandchildren David Clow, Dodi & Jon Arnold, 3 great grandchildren; his most precious extended family Kris & Leon Probasco, “his girls” Laura, Leah and Sarah of Liberty and Linda and Ray Viana, their children Jessica, Joshua and Justin, of Independence; a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will all miss his quiet, unassuming manner.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Academie Lafayette Charter School, 6903 Oak St., KCMO 64113 or Little Rock Early Ed. School in Nairobi, Kenya in c/o Jacque Lane or Laura Probasco, 3815 Campbell, KCMO 64109. The family is forever grateful for the special care given by Larry, Katie & Tamika of Vitas Hospice.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 Salisbury Rd. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008, a gathering of family and friends will precede a celebration of life and brunch.
