James Coatney

James A. Coatney, 89, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Oak Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Speaks. Cremation to follow with private inurnment in Brooking Cemetery. James was born August 4, 1919 in Tunas, MO to William Harrison and Hercie (Crownover) Coatney. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Coatney is survived by his son James C. Coatney, Sr.; grandchildren James C. Coatney, Jr., Marion L. Betzel, Bruce L. Perry, Michael W. Perry, Pamela S. Beck, Eva K. Fugate; by 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; by his sister Evelyn Edmisson. He was preceded in death by his wife Jewell Coatney; daughters Evelyn and Shirley; and grandson Kenneth.
