John Coatney

John Vernon Coatney, 79 of San Jose, CA, formerly of Independence died Mar 15, 2008. Memorial Services will 1:30 pm Tue, Apr. 15, 2008 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep. MO. Inurnment to follow in Brooking Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Coatney was born on Oct. 14, 1928 to William and Hercie (Crownover) Coatney in Tunas, MO. He had been a truck driver for many years and had lived in Marshall, MO and Kansas City, MO, before moving to California. He was a proud Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and enjoyed all kinds of sports especially football. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Earney and Kenneth is survived by a daughter, Patricia Coatney of California; a brother, James A. Coatney of Grain Valley, MO; a sister, Evelyn A. Edmisson of Independence, MO and two grandchildren.
