Virginia I. Cobb, 99, formerly of Independence, MO passed away April 5, 2012 at New Mark Care Center, Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Tuesday, April 10, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial to be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Virginia was born October 21, 1912 in Jennings Falls, Arkansas to W.C. and Ola (English) Denison. Virginia was the Cafeteria Manager at Carlisle Elementary School in Independence for 25 years. She was a member of the Mt. Washington Methodist Church and a volunteer for the Salvation Army. She loved to cook and garden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Owen D. Cobb; one brother, Lamont Denison; and one sister, Wanda Anderson. She is survived by her son, Don (Barbara) Cobb; her sister, Beulah Bittle; sister-in-law, Juanita Denison; two grandsons, David (Robin) Cobb and Donald (Mary Kaye) Cobb; as well as four great grandchildren, Sarah, James, Austin and Megan. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at New Mark Care Center for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Mt. Washington Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
