Pallas K. Cockefair
Pallas K. Cockefair, 97, of Independence, MO passed away Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2012. She was born in Topeka, KS on Jan. 9, 1915 and was the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Krist. Pallas married William R. Cockefair, Jr. in 1955 and so continued until Bill’s death in 1995. Pallas graduated from high school in Ottawa, KS and received an A.B. Degree from Ottawa University and later a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Mrs. Cockefair taught in Kansas and Missouri for 40 years, retiring from Truman High School. Pallas was deeply devoted to the profession, her students and the community. Pallas was very active in various community and state clubs. Her time was spent holding offices and attending meetings of some 14 clubs. She was a devotee of music and art, and traveled widely in the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. She is survived by her four “God-daughters”, Julie Jones of Independence, MO, Susan Olsen of Boston, MA, Kim Snodrass of Carthage, MO and Shara Spilker of Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tue, Nov. 27, 2012 at the Greenton Cemetery in Odessa, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Missouri Girls’ Town Foundation, P.O.
