JoAnne Cockrill, 78 of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, August 23, 2010 at Carmel Hill Living Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made to Wayside Waifs. JoAnne was born August 31, 1931 in Leavenworth, KS to George and Frances (Holybee) Wagle. She had worked as an office manager for several doctors’ offices including Dr. Graham Parker in the Platte City area and later Lee’s Summit before she retired. She enjoyed her work, spending time with family, playing bridge and was an avid Chiefs and Missouri Tigers fan. She was a member of the Christian Church, Disciple of Christ in Platte City and a member of the Sjogrens Group of the Arthritis Foundation. She is survived by her husband Tom Cockrill; a daughter Leonna Cockrill of Lee’s Summit, MO; a brother-in-law, Gerald Stubbs; a niece, Melinda Marsh; 2 great nieces and a nephew and her 2 dogs, Gracie and Maya. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Stubbs.
